For a useful response to a 3D-printing request, provide a file and explain how the object will be used. An idea alone cannot establish price or turnaround, and an automatic “idea to product in 48 hours” should not be assumed.
Before sending your request
- Available file, format and source.
- Final dimensions and important areas.
- Intended use, including heat, moisture or loads.
- Quantity, preferred colour and finish.
- Preferred date, subject to assessment.
- Rights allowing printing and any intended commercial use.
If no file exists yet
Describe the need and attach a photograph or dimensioned sketch. This helps explain the request without committing to modelling work. Simple adaptations may be assessed; complex projects require a separate scope.
If the model comes from an online library
Keep the listing address and licence applicable to the downloaded version. Download permission does not automatically allow resale. The Creative Commons licence overview helps interpret conditions when a model uses those licences.
